Winter Camp 2025: Shedding Our Light

Program Overview

The Shedding Our Light program builds from day to day — guiding children from self-discovery to collaboration, and finally to Friday’s community event, Winter Shed Fest, our celebration of giving back. Children in this program will take on the role of young advocates and mentors, helping prepare and package over 100 community meal boxes for the More Good’s charity partners while supporting the younger children in this program in their preparation for the Winter Shed Fest.

    NB: A minimum of 6 kids required for class to run

    DATE:
    • WK1: Dec 17 - 19 (3-days)
    • WK2: Dec 30, 31 and Jan 2 (3-days)* - CLOSED
    *No session on Jan 1

    TIME
    • Drop-off: 8:30AM
    • Pick-up: 3:30PM

    LOCATION:
    The program is held at various locations in Hong Kong and changes daily. Please refer to the weekly schedule HERE and reference the specific days for the activity locations.

    TRANSPORT:
    For all other outdoor locations, will provide a private shuttle bus service for pick-ups and drop-offs at the Hong Kong Central Post Office to and from our outdoor activity locations.

    NB:
    For indoor days held at our sister charity, More Good, located in Chai Wan, participants will need to arrange their own transportation there.

    Can’t make the full 3 days? Join our 1-Day Family Meal Service with the More Good Foundation — a meaningful parent–child experience preparing and delivering nutritious meal boxes across Hong Kong.

  • Learning Outcomes


    This program empowers Young Shedders to become advocates and mentors - guiding the Mini and Little Shedders in their community event prep while preparing 100+ meal boxes for the More Good Foundation, building leadership, empathy, and a spirit of service.

    At the end of each week, each child will be awarded a Certificate of Service Participation in recognition of their contribution and community engagement.

  • Activity:
    Young Shedders spend the day at Shek O, taking part in seasonal outdoor adventures like rock climbing and exploring the coastline, where they learn to appreciate the beauty of nature and understand that caring for the natural world is also a way of caring for ourselves and others.

    In the afternoon, they enjoy outdoor cooking, baking pastries over an open fire to build teamwork and practical cooking skills. The pastries are shared and enjoyed on-site, while a second batch is brought back to More Good to be finished and garnished — contributing to the Mini and Little Shedders’ Winter Carnival on Friday.

    In the morning, Young Shedders take on a mentoring and leadership role, guiding the Mini and Little Shedders in workshops to decorate festive pastries and treats for their upcoming Winter Shed Fest.

    In the afternoon, they continue with purposeful meal planning, heading to the local market to source ingredients for the More Good meal service they will prepare on Friday.

    This hands-on experience helps them understand the importance of thoughtful preparation and community contribution, connecting their choices to real impact in serving others.

    Young Shedders spend the day at the More Good kitchen, working alongside the More Good team to cook, prepare, and package over 100 community meal boxes for their local Chai wan community and local charity partners.

    Through this hands-on experience, they learn what it means to be young advocates — transforming empathy and understanding into purposeful action as they see how their efforts directly nourish and support families in need.

    Optional Meal Distribution:
    There is also an option for your child to help distribute meal boxes to our local recipients in Yue Wan Estate, Chai Wan. Distribution begins at 4:30pm, and we’ll leave the kitchen together at 4:00pm for a short 15-minute walk to the site. We highly recommend joining—it's a meaningful way for children to deepen their empathy and understand the impact of their giving.
