Seasonal Program Snapshot

Here’s an example of what our Seasonal Program looks like in a week.

  • Monday

Shedders get to know each other, Home Base, and The Shed Agreements. The focus is on "Me" as we dive into building, cooking, and planting, with some neighbourhood exploration to set the tone for the week.

  • Tuesday

We meet outdoors, connect with nature, and grow comfortable in our environment. Reflections focus on personal challenges and celebrations.

  • Wednesday

Meeting at a new outdoor location, Shedders engage in teamwork and foraging activities. The theme is "We," exploring our impact on the community and each other.

  • Thursday

At a new outdoor spot, Shedders push their comfort zones, reflect on the week’s learning, and celebrate shared moments.

  • Friday

Back at Home Base, adventurers complete projects, explore Sai Ying Pun, and prepare for the Celebration of Learning, where families are invited to join.

Our Mission:

To empower children to navigate their own identities (Me), foster meaningful connections with others (We), and nurture a strong sense of environmental and global responsibility (Us).

Our Structure:

Our programs align with nature's rhythms, offering themed activities and outdoor adventures at some of Hong Kong’s most unique locations.

We thoughtfully curate experiences to the developmental skills of each age group:

  1. Mini Shedders (3-4)

  2. Little Shedders (5-7)

  3. Young Shedders (7-9)

  4. Big Shedders (10-13)

Sessions take place in both indoor and outdoor settings across various locations on Hong Kong Island.

Our Philosophy:

We believe children learn best through hands-on, inquiry-based experiences that teach empathy, confidence, creativity, curiosity, problem-solving, and resilience.

Our Team:

Our worldwide-trained educators bring over 50 years of combined experience.

We carefully select our team to ensure diversity in ethnicity, personality, and language abilities, fostering a rich multicultural understanding.

Our Main Learning Model:

Through reflection and purposeful activities, children are guided to build a mindset that nurtures curiosity and problem-solving skills, empowering them for life.

Our Activities:

Each session begins and ends with a Community Circle, fostering connection and reflection.

Activities fall into five categories:

1. Outdoor Health

2. Cooking/Farming

3. Community Action

4. Building/Crafting

5. Creative Movement.

Sessions are conducted in English, with Mandarin and Cantonese speakers available for understanding and safety.

  • "We love The Shed!"

“Tim and Sammi are incredible. They are excellent leaders and have designed a challenging, age appropriate, fun and adventurous program for the kids. Though my 4-yo was apprehensive at drop-off, I returned 2 hours later and found him completely at ease, confident and eager to return next time.”

    — Joey

  • "The Shed has been an amazing opportunity for my boys to explore HK!"

“Every time at pick up my son would always share what he saw or built out of nature, and it always sounds so cool!! Tim, Tony and Yoshi are great mentors and role models for the boys.”

    — Cleo

  • "Literally THE best camp experience"

“The Shed is a really fun and fantastic program. Our son has just turned 3 and he loved the hands-on factor about the activities. He comes home everyday feeling so proud of what he was able to achieve at camp - especially for climbing all those steep mountains! What we loved the most though, was how Sammi continued to inspire and empower the children throughout the week packed of fun! We loved that our son was given ample opportunities to step outside of his comfort zone and we love love loved that everything he learnt from the Shed was through experiencing."

    — Kate

  • "An inclusive, adventurous, transformative experience!"

“Having grown up in the UK, in a generation far enough back that I’m embarrassed to disclose, I never expected that my son (just turned 3) would be able to capture some of the elements of the childhood that I experienced, here in Hong Kong. That was until The Shed! What an inclusive, adventurous, transformative experience! Rivers, climbing, cooking, trails, farming, nature, beaches – the list goes on! When he returns home from school, he isn’t able to recount his day, when he returns from a Shed session he tells me about gecko eggs, insects, birds and the magnificent great outdoors! I still have vivid memories of the people that I looked up to in my childhood and have no doubt that Sammi and the team are the idols that he will carry with him from this experience. Can’t wait for the next sessions!”

    — Dan

  • "I can't recommend this program enough!"

“Our 3.5 year old daughter loves The Shed. We have seen her becoming more and more brave and pushing herself outside of her own comfort zone in so many ways. Tim and Sammi are amazing with the kids. As parents, we love the balance of the programs that The Shed offers. From indoor "home base" work including working on fine and gross motor skills like building a go-cart to exploring nature with walks around Pok Fu Lam. It's a unique program with experienced childhood educators who truly care about your children and their holistic development as little humans.”
